Team Responsibilities include: Programs Execution Leader; Team Builder; Program Strategy, Purpose, oncept and Content Chief; Main Contact Person with Clients, Partners, and Sponsors; Final Word on all Deliverables, Schedules, and Budgets; Chief Financial Officer; Travel, Food & Cleaning Services :)

  • Meaning of my name: Idit means "the best" in Biblical Hebrew (my parents had high expectations!)
  • Hometown and country: I was born and raised in Israel; moved to USA in 1982; studied, worked, and lived in Boston and NYC.
  • Role on Globaloria Team: I am the Founder and President. I have many goals and objectives, a vision, and I have to raise money to make things happen. I also open the mail, clean the office, and pay the bills. I must always find great people to work on our projects and partner with us around the world.
  • Professional Experience: For many years, I was a Scientist and Lecturer at the MIT Media Lab, and the Founder and CEO of MaMaMedia.com-- a pioneering children's Web company in the "First Internet Era" (it's now 13 years old!). I helped start a few companies, and I am often invited to sit on Advisory Board of universities, media companies, museums, and new startup companies who wish to innovate through new media technology.
  • Education/Training: I graduated from Ramat-HaSharon High School (1976); BA in Tel Aviv University (1982); Masters at Harvard in Education Technology (1984); CAS at Harvard in Human Development (1985); PhD at MIT Media Lab in Epistemology and Learning with Technology (1988).
  • Favorite food(s): Sushi and Falafel.
  • Favorite music: Samba, African, Broza.
  • Place in the world I'd most like to visit: Anywhere that is sunny with a beautiful beach (e.g., Tel Aviv, Barbados), or any big multicultural city (e.g., NYC, Shanghai, Prague).
  • Hobbies and things I like to do outside of work: I like to spend time with my three children and husband and also with his children and their children!; walk in the city and discover new designs, galleries, exhibits, and dance performances. I love meeting other entrepreneurs and world leaders; looking at other people's websites, and explore cool online applications.
  • Favorite technology 'gadget' and why: My multimedia laptop. It's my mobile tool for thinking, writing, communicating, creating, researching, designing, building companies, forming teams, and launching products, and for managing people -- including myself and my family. Of course, I can't imagine life with out my mobile phone/organizer device!
  • When I started using computers: I started in 1982, only in graduate school (!), when the first PC showed up at the Harvard University Store, I was on a waiting-list for a couple months to buy an IBM-PC machine (with DOS, 2 floppy disks, and no hard drive memory!) I started with word-processing and programming Basic, Pascal, and then my favorite language for many years was Logo. I worked with the people who invented Logo at MIT (see papert.org). I also worked with the people who invented the first-ever low cost laptop (see laptop.org)
  • What I use computers for: Everything I do... OK, Almost.
  • What I like to do on the internet: I like to build happy colorful and fun e-learning spaces, for people (young and old) to become creative; flexible places for kids and youth to click and connect, learn and have fun, explore and create their own media. But not just any media, rather, interactive and smart media, a game or a movie, that can inspire others to make our world a better place! Peace.
