My Year in Review
I had 8th grade students this year and it was a challenge. These students have been spoon fed and to get them to try something outside of the box was hard. They were afraid of MESSING things up and they would wait till I was "holding their hand" before they would do anything. Once they started relaxing a little they began to see how things were coming together and they then had their wow moments. As you know there will be some students that work really good and others that will do just enough to get by. Teaching these students teamwork is one of the big challenges. I let students choose which groups to be in thinking if they like each other then they will work better with each partner, not always the case. Some problems with this is lots of chatting not related to the class. So next year I plan to make the groups differently. I had thought of having them answer profile questions and try to group them by their answers. Each day is a learning experience and from these experience come new ways to accomplish a task......
