Topic Assignments
Imagine Social Change Games
Before you start building an original game in Flash, you need to pick a specific concept, related to a broader Social Change issue, that you want your game to focus on. Review your work from Choosing a Topic.
Review the Flash Workspace
Before you write your game idea in Flash, refresh your knowledge of the Flash CS3 workspace: How to set up the workspace, work with the Stage, and create and open documents.
- Read the First steps in Flash tutorial. It introduces core elements of the workspace, such as menus and tools you will use frequently.
Write Your Game or Animation Idea with Flash Text
- Complete the Flash Text Basics tutorial to learn how to create text in Flash.
- Learn how to make your text look good by selecting the right fonts and color combination for your text and background.
- Create a one frame Flash movie with a text field containing your game idea. Explain how the game will work and describe its background or learning objective. Write enough to fill at least one screen, about 100-200 words. Make it fun!
Update the Wiki
1. Upload both the Flash movie file (.SWF) file and source code file (.FLA) to the Wiki.
- The .SWF file is the Flash movie you created. Upload it to show your work!
- The .FLA file is the source code of the movie. Upload it and let others learn from your code!
2. Add the Flash movie file (.SWF) you uploaded to your project page.
